When did McLennan Community College become a NISOD Member?
McLennan Community College became a NISOD member in 2002.

Why is McLennan Community College a NISOD Member?
MCC is a member of NISOD because of the community and resources available to the college’s faculty and staff. The Excellence Awards also allow the college to recognize our amazing staff in a public and national way. In 2018, MCC was recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges by NISOD and Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.

Which NISOD benefits does McLennan Community College use the most and how?
MCC sends representatives every year to the International Conference of Teaching and Leadership Excellence and annually nominates NISOD Excellence Award Recipients. Every week the faculty and staff also receive a list of the upcoming NISOD webinars, Innovation Abstracts, and links from NISOD’s Weekly Digest. MCC has also co-hosted Regional Workshops.

McLennan Community College Top 150 U.S. Community Colleges Eligible for 2021 Aspen Prize
The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program has named McLennan Community College one of 150 community colleges eligible to compete for the $1 million Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the nation’s signature recognition of high achievement and performance among America’s community colleges. “We are honored to be recognized for the excellent performance of our students and the work of our committed faculty and staff who live our core values that people, inclusiveness, integrity, communication, and excellence matter,” said Dr. Johnette McKown, president of McLennan Community College.

McLennan Community College Smoke-Free, Tobacco-Free, Vape-Free Campus in Commitment to Health and Well-Being of Community
In an effort to promote the health of all who visit, McLennan Community College has become a smoke-free, tobacco-free, and vape-free campus. Spearheaded by the college leadership team, the policy signals a commitment to a healthier campus for all with the removal of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and tobacco products. MCC joins thousands of other higher education institutions across the country standing against smoking and its effects.

McLennan Community College Named a 2019 Great College to Work For
McLennan Community College was one of the best colleges in the nation to work for according to a 2019 survey by the Great Colleges to Work For program. The results were based on a survey of 236 colleges and universities. In all, 85 of the 236 institutions achieved Great College to Work For recognition for specific best practices and policies. Results were reported for small, medium, and large institutions, with MCC included among the medium colleges and universities (3,000 to 9,999 students). MCC received honors in two categories: Teaching Environment and Compensation and Benefits.
