Supporting Faculty Across Higher Education with Best Practices for Teaching Online
Is your institution struggling to support faculty as they transition to online modalities? Now more than ever, being prepared to teach online is a critical mission for every higher education institution. Best Practices for Teaching Online (BPTO) is a professional development program that prepares faculty to make specific improvements to online courses in support of student success. Webinar attendees learn 17 techniques from BPTO’s Faculty Checklist that any faculty member can implement into their online courses to help students succeed.
Learning Outcomes:
- Learn specific, online-learning techniques to bring back to your classroom.
- Explore the free, openly accessible BPTO program.
The BPTO program was designed for institutions that struggle with a formal faculty development program, lack the funding required to participate in paid programs, or lack dedicated instructional design teams. The BPTO course is openly accessible and there is no cost associated with participation, consideration, or adoption. Finally, there exists a development program that is easy to understand, easy for faculty to utilize, and doesn’t cost a dime.

I have to say that watching this presentation made me even more aware of the outstanding job that our everyone in our distance education department is doing to ensure that instructors are both aware of and implementing best practices in online education.
I know that adding the elements that were discussed in the presentation has made major improvements that benefit my students. Plus I love the treats (and so do my granddaughters) and encouragement that instructors receive from distance ed on a regular basis.
Great presentation.

Thank you!
Organization is key, as this Webinar demonstrates. It seems that doing the most simple thing first, is the way to go.

We are so fortunate at Augusta Tech that our Distance Ed Department had already implemented many of these best practices prior to COVID as a result of successful QEP implementation and the hard work of our DE staff. Since there is always room to improve, I’m excited to see where our DE team takes us next with some of the ideas presented here.
