NISOD to Celebrate 25th Anniversary of Excellence Awards

Twenty-fifth annual NISOD Excellence Awards Dinner and Celebration to recognize faculty, administrators, and staff who are a testament to the important work done every day on community and technical college campuses.

In 2016, the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) will celebrate the 25th year of its coveted NISOD Excellence Awards.

Established in 1991, the awards provide the 300-plus NISOD-member colleges with an opportunity to recognize individuals doing extraordinary work on their campuses. The colleges use their own criteria to select award recipients from their institutions. To date, more than 25,000 recipients have been honored with the award.

Each May, during NISOD’s International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, Excellence Award recipients are celebrated during a gathering that recognizes their contributions and achievements. The 25th Anniversary Excellence Awards Dinner and Celebration will be held in Austin, Texas on May 28, 2016, and promises to be an elegant and inspiring event. The evening will include the celebration of past and 2016 NISOD Excellence Award recipients, the presentation of Student Essay Contest winners, fine cuisine, and music and dancing.

“NISOD is proud to continue our long history of recognizing the outstanding work of community and technical college educators at our member colleges, especially on this 25th anniversary year of the Excellence Awards,” said Edward J. Leach, NISOD’s Executive Director. “We look forward to hosting colleagues and family members as they celebrate Excellence Award recipients’ outstanding accomplishments.”

In addition to Excellence Award honorees being showcased during the Dinner and Celebration, recipients will be featured in a special edition of the Excellence Awards Booklet that includes pictures of award recipients and unique congratulatory messages. Copies of the Excellence Awards Booklet will be distributed to all participants at the conference and mailed to award recipients who cannot attend. In addition, past Excellence Award recipients (1991-2015) will receive a limited edition lapel pin as a memento of their special role in NISOD’s distinguished 38-year history. In marking the 25th anniversary of the NISOD Excellence Awards, we are extending a special invitation to past NISOD Excellence Award recipients to attend the 2016 NISOD International Conference on Teaching Excellence at the 50% discounted conference registration fee of only $265!

NOTE: NISOD will provide college CEOs who submit Excellence Award recipient names with a complimentary conference registration to facilitate their participation in the Excellence Awards Dinner and Celebration. (At least one 2016 Excellence Awards recipient must also be registered to attend the conference.)
