Dynamic Lecturing: Research-Based Strategies to Enhance Lecture Effectiveness

In the fight against poor teaching, lecturing has been unjustly accused and vilified. If someone describes a lecture as ineffective, the webinar facilitator asks three questions: (1) what kind of lecture is it, (2) how is the lecture delivered, and, (3) to whom is the lecture given? Lectures can certainly be ineffective as a teaching strategy, and certainly should never (or should very rarely) be used for entire class sessions; however, at times, lectures can also be very effective. During this webinar, participants consider ways to make lectures more effective—something that (spoiler alert) is typically done by combining lectures with additional teaching methods.
