DSLCC President Selected as Entrepreneurial President of the Year
The National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) has named Dabney S. Lancaster Community College president Dr. John Rainone the 2020 Entrepreneurial President of the Year. Under Rainone’s leadership, the college has recently raised approximately $1 million to acquire and develop the college’s new workforce and entrepreneurship center in Buena Vista that will open in 2021.

TAP and DSLCC Receive $1.3 Million Job Training Grant
Total Action for Progress (TAP), in partnership with Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, has been awarded a $1,337,918 grant from the Department of Labor to launch Appalachian CareerForge. The grant will be used to fund programing that will support unemployed workers in seeking job training at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in three high-demand career areas in the region.

The DSLCC Educational Foundation Awarded Over $300,00 in Scholarships in 2019
Over 100 students were awarded a scholarship for the 2019 academic year, valued collectively at $306,025. Established in 1980, the DSLCC Educational Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that exists solely to support and promote DSLCC. The Educational Foundation’s primary focus is to keep education affordable through the awarding of student scholarships and to provide students the support they need to achieve their goals. The Educational Foundation has awarded more than $2.3 million in scholarships to nearly 1,500 students since its inception.
