Let us begin by saying that in this uncertain time, we have never been more grateful for the kind thoughts and concern shared by faculty, administrators, and staff at our member and non-member colleges. Thank you for your understanding and support as we all try to navigate these rapidly changing times.
Regarding the 2020 International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, our highest priority remains the health and safety of our staff, members, and others who engage with NISOD. Given the recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that Americans cancel or postpone events of 50-plus people for the next eight weeks, NISOD will not be holding any in-person meetings through the end of May 2020, including our 2020 International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence. However, we are considering alternative means of delivering the conference, including hosting the event online in the near future. More details about an online version of the event are forthcoming, but we know that quality programming and meaningful peer-to-peer connections will be key to its success.
If you registered and paid for the onsite conference, you will have the options of being refunded, transferring your registration to the online conference, or deferring your registration to next year’s annual conference, May 29 – June 1, 2021, in Austin, Texas. Click here to select one of these options. Be sure to reach out to your hotel and airlines to cancel those reservations.
Our work goes on even as we exercise caution related to COVID-19 (coronavirus). Our entire staff is working remotely, but we are 100 percent operational and remain available through email, phone calls, and video conferences. Our expectation is that we will be telecommuting until at least May 5th. We know many of you have been faced with similar difficult decisions, and we appreciate your understanding.
