NISOD Announces Online Convenings and Teaching Online Toolkit

Austin, Texas—April 2, 2020— NISOD is happy to announce that it has restructured its 2020 annual conference as a series of online convenings. These events will feature purposefully selected presentations originally planned for the annual onsite conference. The online convenings will provide budget-friendly, high-quality, and timely resources for community and technical colleges that want to make the most of their professional development dollars.

“It’s safe to say that these are turbulent times for faculty, administrators, and staff at community and technical colleges,” said Edward Leach, NISOD’s Executive Director. That’s why we felt it absolutely necessary to assemble a set of resources that will help educators address some of the instructional and other challenges they are now facing.”

The online convenings will be of interest to a variety of employee groups, including Faculty Members, Administrators, Classified Staff, Student Support Staff, and Professional Development Leaders. Registration for the sessions will be available on an individual basis, or colleges can purchase a Campus Access License and download the full line-up of sessions for on-demand, collegewide access. More information can be found at nisod.org/onlineconvenings.

NISOD has also compiled a Teaching Online Toolkit for faculty members at its member colleges. The Toolkit includes particularly timely best practices related to online teaching compiled from NISOD’s Innovation Abstracts and webinars. The Toolkit provides research and resources that will help faculty members help their students succeed as both groups transition to an online environment.
