Chuck Underwood and Dr. Belle Wheelan to Keynote NISOD’s 2017 Conference

Austin, TX [September 2, 2016] – The National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) is pleased to announce Chuck Underwood and Dr. Belle Wheelan as keynote speakers for the 39th annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, held May 27 – 30, 2017, at the Hilton Austin.

Chuck Underwood, 2017 Keynote SpeakerAuthor, consultant, and lecturer, Chuck Underwood, is one of the pioneering scholars of generational study. As the principal and founder of The Generative Imperative, Inc., Mr. Underwood provides organizations across all industries with strategies on how to connect with every generation—both in the workplace and the marketplace. His 2016 book, America’s Generations in the Workplace, Marketplace, and Living Room, is the most comprehensive presentation of generational business and personal-life dynamics ever published. Additionally, Mr. Underwood is the host of the PBS national television series America’s Generations With Chuck Underwood, a captivating look at the dynamics of America’s generations, from Baby Boomers to Millennials, and their contributions to American life.

Mr. Underwood will deliver his keynote address on Monday, May 29, 2017, from 12:45 – 2:15 p.m. in the Hilton Austin Grand Ballroom.

Belle Wheelan, 2017 Keynote SpeakerDr. Belle Wheelan is the current President of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is the first African American and the first woman to serve in this capacity. Her career in higher education spans more than 40 years, serving as a faculty member, chief student services officer, campus provost, college president, and Secretary of Education.

Dr. Wheelan received her bachelor’s degree from Trinity University (1972) with a double major in Psychology and Sociology, her master’s from Louisiana State University (1974) in Developmental Educational Psychology, and her doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin (1984) in Educational Administration with a concentration in community college leadership. She has won numerous awards for her dedication to excellence in higher education, and attributes her success to hard work, endurance, tenacity, and being in the right place at the right time.

Dr. Wheelan will conclude the conference with her keynote address at the Closing General Session Luncheon on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the Hilton Austin Grand Ballroom.
