AACC Convention Recap

AACCFriend of NISOD, the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) (DC), held its annual convention in late April, in Orlando, Florida. NISOD hosted its annual Presidents Breakfast, a membership benefit available to college presidents, to thank its members for their support throughout the year. This year’s presentation at the Presidents Breakfast focused on “Completion by Design,” and the video (sponsored by Valencia College) will be posted in the coming months on NISOD’s website.

This year’s AACC Convention was special because it unveiled the Report from the 21st-Century Commission on the Future of Community Colleges. NISOD-Platinum partner, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, highlighted the report.

John RouecheDuring the Hail and Farewell Luncheon, Dr. Walter Bumphus, President and CEO of AACC, made a special presentation to Dr. John E. Roueche, who is retiring as the CCLP Director at The University of Texas at Austin after 42 years. AACC created a special tribute video that will be shared at NISOD’s Tuesday General Session to introduce John Roueche, the keynote presenter. You will not want to miss this year’s NISOD Conference in which there are many celebratory activities planned to celebrate Dr. John Roueche, a legend in the field of community colleges and higher education.
