Innovation Abstracts, NISOD's flagship publication, began disseminating best-practice descriptions of successful teaching and learning strategies, programs, and other initiatives in 1979. Each week of the academic year, electronic issues are distributed online. The articles are posted on the members-only section of our website and readers must enter a username and password (given to each college contact) to view the article. Each issue of Innovation Abstracts is also available as a PDF downloadable file. Members who do not have a password can complete a password request form.

In “Global Horizons: The Promise of a Global Education,” Rita Kranidis, Professor and Director, Global Humanities, at Montgomery College (MD), describes the grant-writing process as well as the program that resulted from the college being awarded the highest grant amount of six community colleges nationally, to carry out the mission of the National Endowment for the Humanities’ “Bridging Cultures” grant initiative for two-year colleges.
