Austin Community College: Electronics and Advanced Technologies Department

The Austin Community College Electronics and Advanced Technologies department offers two-year AAS and one.year certificates in: engineering technology, semiconductor manufacturing, robotics automation, bio-instrumentation, traditional and renewable power technology, networking, and electronics. ACC is the largest workforce training provider in Central Texas and achieves these efforts through its extensive partnerships with industry and through the grants that are awarded via federal, state and local agencies. The department is a model that has been emulated and visited by representatives of other institutions both nationally and internationally.

For over 50 years, the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) has administered the Fulbright Scholar Program, the U.S. government’s flagship academic exchange effort, on behalf of the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Founded in 1947, CIES is a private organization located in Washington, DC. It is a division of the Institute of International Education (IIE) in New York, NY.

CIES annually recruits and sends over 800 U.S. faculty and professionals to 140 countries and brings 800 faculty and professionals from overseas to the U.S. The non-profit organization maintains deep ties with the U.S. higher education community, including individual universities and colleges and major scholarly organizations. It also works with a network of bi-national Fulbright Commissions in 51 countries and 90 U.S. diplomatic posts around the world, as well as international universities and higher education associations.
