Coral Noonan-Terry, Associate Director

Coral NoonanSince 2004, Dr. Noonan-Terry has served as the Associate Director for the National Institute for Staff & Organizational Development (NISOD). She works closely with the NISOD Director in providing long-range strategic planning for all aspects of NISOD’s membership, conference, special projects, corporate partnerships, and outreach; she is the Editor-in-Chief of NISOD’s monthly enewsletter, Hook’Em Up; and is the lead for NISOD’s annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence. In 2007, she was named Lecturer with the Department of Educational Administration in the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin. She is a national advisory board member of the Community College Leader. This year, Coral was selected as one of only 32 community college leaders to attend the prestigious Executive Leadership Institute sponsored by the League for Innovation in the Community College. She has been an invited speaker at over 75 educational conferences and has published articles related to educational technology and student success.

Prior to her service with NISOD, she directed the Technology Leadership Academy, a Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to Use Technology $2 million Catalyst grant. Under her leadership, the Technology Leadership Academy was recognized as a model online learning community by the U.S. Distance Education Report. During her years spearheading the Academy, she also was a bilingual early childhood (special education) teacher; lead evaluator for the Adult Education portion of a U.S. Department of Education Star Schools grant; and an adjunct faculty member at Huston-Tillotson University and the University of Texas at San Antonio. Dr. Noonan-Terry has teaching experience from early childhood to graduate levels, and her expertise is in working with limited English proficient students with disabilities. She started her teaching career as a Developmental Communications (ESL) instructor at Austin Community College.

Coral earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Administration specializing in Community College Leadership; a Master of Arts degree in Multicultural Special Education; and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Learning and Development (Education) with specializations in elementary, bilingual, and special education all at The University of Texas at Austin. Coral still remains active with The University and is the current Vice-Chair of the Admissions and Registration Committee and the President-Elect of the Longhorn Alumni Band.
